Ragnarok: The New World August Update Guide: Crusader, Monk, Siege War and More

The August update for Ragnarok: The New World is rolling out now, and it is the biggest since the SEA launch on July 16. Crusader and Monk landed with the August 6 maintenance. Siege War opens August 16. War of Kings and the Shadow Gear system follow through the month. This guide covers what each feature does, the dates that matter, and what the TW/HK server already shows us about how these systems play.

The four pillars of the Prelude to the Peak update

Crusader and Monk: the two new 2nd job branches

Crusader is the Swordsman branch’s second job. It plays as the team’s front line: holy damage skills, protective abilities, and the toughness to take hits meant for allies. On the TW/HK server its kit centers on Grand Cross, a wide holy blast, plus sacrifice-type skills that absorb damage for teammates. If your guild is building for Siege War, a Crusader is the anchor you want holding a castle corridor.

Monk comes from the Acolyte branch. It chains combo attacks and saves its best hit, Asura Strike, for one massive burst. TW/HK players describe it as a one-punch class: nothing survives Asura Strike, and if it does, you hit again. For PvP and War of Kings, the Monk is the finisher.

Both classes sit in the jobs database with full skill lists: Crusader and Monk. TW/HK received both classes on March 26 with free job change, which lets players swap between branches without creating new characters (official press release).

Siege War: schedule, castles, and how to prepare

Siege War is the guild mode. Every Sunday from 21:00 to 22:00 (UTC+7), guilds fight over 13 castles around Prontera. The first Siege War runs August 16 for servers that have been open at least 21 days, so most launch servers qualify.

    RegionSunday local time
    Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia (WIB)21:00
    Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia22:00
    Japan, South Korea23:00

The window is one hour, so preparation happens before the gate opens. Sort your roster into defense and offense squads, confirm who is on for Sunday, and make sure your front line has the gear to hold. The guild that wins the first week sets the tone for the rest of the month.

War of Kings: from server battles to the cross-server stage

War of Kings is the competitive team mode. You form your strongest team and fight through a server bracket first, then move to the cross-server stage. The TW/HK server ran the same sequence: the mode launched March 26 (press release), and the first cross-server edition opened April 25 at 18:00 (maintenance notice) after a month of server-level qualifiers. Expect a similar phased rollout here rather than one big launch day.

TW/HK also shipped a practice arena alongside it, with 1v1, 3v3, and 5v5 matches. It is the best place to test a new Monk build before you bring it into a bracket. Whether SEA gets the same practice mode with this update has not been confirmed.

    Shadow Gear and Final Mirage

Shadow Gear is a second equipment track that sits on top of your normal gear. The SEA version launches at Lv. 75 and covers six slots: armor, gloves, shield, boots, earrings, and necklace. On TW/HK, pieces drop from dungeons and matching a set unlocks set bonuses, so the plan is simple: farm the six pieces, then chase the set.

Final Mirage is the limited-time party challenge tied to the system. You enter, fight Shadow Osiris, and leave with upgrade materials for your Shadow Gear. The announcement calls it a challenge for a party, so bring a full group the first time and expect the boss to test your protection skills. Because the dungeon is limited-time, farm it while it is up and bank the materials for later upgrades.

What the TW/HK server tells SEA players

The TW/HK version, RO仙境傳說:世界之旅 (Ragnarok: World Journey), received most of this content on March 26, 2026 (update announcement). The rollout is a useful preview of what to expect. Every claim below links to its source.

Glast Heim (Ancient City) mapLive March 26Not in the August announcement

Two things came with the TW/HK patch that the SEA announcement does not list: the Glast Heim map and the Collection system. Glast Heim brought new MVPs and cards, and the Collection system gives stat bonuses for collecting permanent fashion, headgear, pets, and cards. They may arrive in later SEA updates, so treat them as a roadmap rather than a promise.

Checklist before the first Siege War

    • Make sure your guild qualifies: servers open at least 21 days are eligible for the August 16 start.
    • Lock your Sunday roster before 21:00 UTC+7.
    • Level a Crusader or Monk if you plan to play one; both are live now.
    • Start Shadow Gear farming in Final Mirage while it runs.
    • Convert the Siege War time to your local zone and set the alarm (see the table above).

Ragnarok The New World Legend Cup: What It Is, When It Runs, and How the Destiny Imprint Bonus Works

Gravity is running its first official dual-format annual championship for Ragnarok: The New World. The Legend Cup carries a base prize pool of US$1.01 million, with bonus money on top that has no upper limit. Most of that extra cash is funded by the Tournament Pass and the Destiny Imprint event, and the Destiny Imprint is exactly what this guide covers.

If you play in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, or Southeast Asia, you can lock in additional cash rewards before the tournament even starts. The whole process takes a few minutes on the official event page. The rules, however, have a few traps worth knowing about before you commit.

The two formats of the Legend Cup

The championship runs two competitions side by side.

Odin’s Valhalla · Guild Battle is built around the in-game Guild League. Whole guilds fight for regional and global standing, and the Destiny Imprint for this format is made on behalf of your guild, not yourself.

Valkyrie’s Trial · Squad Arena is a dedicated squad competition that runs this November. Teams of players fight through regional qualifiers toward the Global Finals, and imprints here are made in your own name.

Each format gets its own imprint window, its own reward table, and its own settlement rules.

    What is Destiny Imprint Event?

Think of the Destiny Imprint as a personal placement target, not a registration and not a bet.

You log into the event page, choose the tournament placement you aim to reach, and complete the imprint. If your final placement meets or beats that target, you collect a cash bonus on top of your tournament winnings.

If you fall short, you get nothing extra. That’s the whole mechanic, and it’s worth reading the fine print, because three details change how you should play it:

    1. Beating your target does not move you up a tier. Pick 33rd-64th and finish top 8, and you still collect the 33rd-64th reward.
    2. Missing your target means zero bonus. There is no partial payout.
    3. You can hold only one valid Destiny Imprint qualification per player, game account, and tournament identity.

The takeaway: pick the tier you are genuinely confident you will reach, not the one you hope to reach. There is no upside to an aggressive pick beyond the obvious one, and a missed pick pays nothing.

How to participate in Destiny Imprint event?

The steps are short, but the eligibility check comes first.

How the Legend Cup Destiny Imprint works in five steps: check region, log in, pick target, complete imprint, compete
    1. Confirm your region. The event is open only to eligible players in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia.
      • Steam users who meet the tournament requirements are automatically counted in the Southeast Asia region.
    2. Log in on the official event page with the account you intend to compete on. The imprint account must match your actual tournament account, or the qualification is invalidated at verification.
    3. Pick your target placement from the Valkyrie’s Trial reward table below.
    4. Complete the imprint in your own name for Squad Arena, or on behalf of your guild once the Guild Battle imprint opens.
    5. Compete and finish. Settlement happens after the official roster lock and final results are confirmed.

Note: the Destiny Imprint is a bonus event, not tournament registration. You still have to register in-game and make it through the normal qualification process.

The Odin’s Valhalla Guild Battle tiers are still under wraps. Target tiers, Starstone amounts, who receives the payout, and how it is settled will be announced with the Guild Battle Destiny Imprint later.

The rules that trip players up

Roster lock is the settlement basis.

    • Squad Arena rewards are paid against the officially confirmed locked team roster and final placement. Guild Battle rewards follow the locked guild roster. Member changes, withdrawals, and even name changes after the lock can affect your eligibility, and official review prevails.

    Account identity must match.

    • If the account, character, team, or guild on the imprint doesn’t match what shows up at final verification, the qualification is void.

    Cheating kills the bonus.

    • Account piloting, account trading, trading reward eligibility, malicious forfeiture, bug exploitation, and any behavior that compromises fairness can get your imprint revoked and already-paid rewards recovered. The organizers keep the right to claw back money they’ve already distributed.

The event page also tracks live tournament price pool. In early August 2026 it showed roughly 2,440 pre-registered players and about US$59,385 in Tournament Pass funding, and both counters climb daily.

    FAQ

Do I still need to register for the tournament separately?

Yes. The Destiny Imprint is a bonus event and does not count as official in-game tournament registration. Registration, team or guild roster lock, and official review all still apply.

Can I change my imprint target after locking it in?

The rules don’t describe any change mechanism, so treat the imprint as final. If you’re unsure, pick the safer tier or wait for a later official announcement.

What if I finish above my target?

You still get the reward for the tier you selected. Placement above your target does not auto-upgrade you to the next bracket.

Can I make imprints for both the Squad Arena and Guild Battle?

The rules allow only one valid Destiny Imprint qualification per player, account, and tournament identity. Plan which format matters more to you before committing.

What happens if my team or guild changes after roster lock?

Settlement is based on the officially confirmed locked roster. Member changes, withdrawals, and name changes can affect reward eligibility, and the final call belongs to the organizers.

Is the Destiny Imprint a wager?

No. You’re setting a personal placement target, and the bonus pays only if the official result meets it. There’s no stake to lose beyond the qualification itself.

    Bottom line

The Legend Cup is the biggest official Ragnarok tournament Gravity has run, and the Destiny Imprint is a rare chance to guarantee yourself extra money for a placement you expect to reach anyway. Decide which format matters to you, pick a realistic tier, keep your account identity clean, and Guild Battle matches run from November 10, 2026 to the Grand Final in March 2027, and the imprint window opens once the Regional Top 64 roster locks, so keep the December dates clear.
