Gunslinger overview

Gunslinger is a first job in Ragnarok: The New World, where you start as a novice and job change to Gunslinger directly. It advances to Rebel at job level 40, then Night Walker at the third job.

The class uses four weapon types, each with its own skill tree: pistols (Desperado AoE, Chain Action), gatling guns (Gatling Fever, high-speed auto-attacks), rifles (Tracking, Anti-Material Blast), and shotguns (Crowd Control Shot, Full Blast, Spread Shot). Most skills are weapon-locked: Desperado needs a pistol, Gatling Fever needs a gatling gun, Tracking needs a pistol or rifle.

Gunslinger’s damage type is neutral ranged physical. It scales with DEX (ranged ATK, HIT), AGI (attack speed), and LUK (crit rate, crit damage). VIT shores up its naturally low defense.

The Job Freedom system lets you switch class trees any time with free stat and skill resets. Testing builds costs nothing.

Which Gunslinger build should you play?

Since the Gunslinger has four weapon paths, each uses different skills, stats, and gear.

Build details

Desperado build (AoE farming, PvP burst)

The farming build. Desperado hits up to 10 enemies twice per cast. At max level (30), each hit deals 516% ATK — that is 1,032% per target per cast. Fallen Angel teleports you into position and adds 600% extra Desperado damage for 2 seconds.

  • Stats:
    • DEX first for damage and hit.
    • VIT second because Desperado puts you in melee range.
    • LUK third for crit.
  • Gunslinger skills:
    • Chain Action 10 (55% double attack on pistols)
    • Desperado 30, Cracker 10 (stun)
    • Platinum Altar 10 (9% HP shield + 5 ATK)
    • Bull’s Eye 1 (utility).
  • Rebel skills:
    • Fallen Angel 10 (9m teleport, +600% Desperado damage)
    • Last Stand 10 (+100 ATK, +18% ASPD)
    • Armor-Piercing Rounds 10 (40% ignore 40% DEF).
  • Auto Attack Rotation:
    • Platinum Altar → Fallen Angel (teleport in) → Desperado → Desperado → basic attacks with Chain Action. Cracker to stun anything that survives.
  • Players mention Desperado for farming and mention Gold Lux as an early weapon pick.

Gatling Gunner build (sustained DPS, boss fights)

The crit auto-attack build. Gatling Fever ramps ATK by 120 and ASPD by 10% over 8 seconds, with every auto dealing an extra 200% damage. Eternal Chain extends Chain Action’s 55% double-attack trigger to all gun types including the gatling gun. Combined, you fire fast, double-hit often, and ignore 40% of physical defense.

  • Stats:
    • AGI for attack speed.
    • DEX for base ATK.
    • LUK for crit rate and crit damage.
    • Many players suggest AGI 64 / LUK 53 at mid levels, favoring crit.
  • Gunslinger skills:
    • Chain Action 10
    • Bull’s Eye 10
    • Cracker 10
  • Rebel skills:
    • Gatling Fever 10
    • Eternal Chain 10
    • Last Stand 10
    • Armor-Piercing Rounds 10
  • Rotation:
    • Platinum Altar or Last Stand (they cancel each other — pick one) → Gatling Fever → hold auto-attack.
    • Last Stand makes you immobile but gives more ATK and ASPD; use it against stationary bosses.
    • Platinum Altar gives a shield and mobility; use it when you need to move.
  • Avoid early AGI stacking in favor of DEX first, then adding AGI at higher levels, this is a “mistake” new players make.

Rifle (Tracking) build (single-target burst, PvP)

Tracking deals 1,752% ATK at max level (30) on a 1-second cooldown. It works with both pistols and rifles, but rifles have the higher base ATK. Anti-Material Blast (Rebel) adds a 1,100% line AoE on a 4-second cooldown.

  • Stats:
    • DEX for ranged ATK and hit.
    • LUK for crit.
  • Gunslinger skills:
    • Tracking 30
    • Bull’s Eye 10
    • Chain Action 10
  • Rebel skills:
    • Anti Material Blast 10
    • Last Stand 10
    • Armor-Piercing Rounds 10
    • Disarm 10
  • Rotation:
    • Last Stand → Tracking → Tracking → Anti Material Blast on cooldown.
    • Disarm against physical attackers.
  • The build works but the auto-targeting sometimes fires before the player locks on. Trackers often switch to a pistol loadout for farming.

Shotgun build (AoE control, zone damage)

Shotguns trade single-target precision for area control. Crowd Control Shot hits a cone with 150% damage and a 60% slow. Full Blast delivers a 1,300% burst at max level (10). Spread Shot (Rebel) covers a 9-meter wide area for 300%. Crushing Storm (Rebel) adds a defense break.

  • Stats:
    • DEX for damage
    • VIT because shotguns play at medium range
  • Gunslinger skills:
    • Full Blast 10
    • Crowd Control Shot 30
    • Platinum Altar 10
    • Cracker 10
  • Rebel skills:
    • Spread Shot 10
    • Crushing Storm 10
    • Eternal Chain 10
    • Last Stand 10
  • Rotation:
    • Platinum Altar → Crowd Control Shot (slow the pack) → Spread Shot → Full Blast on priority target → Crushing Storm.

Key mechanics

Bullet system

Gunslinger skills consume bullets. Desperado costs 5 bullets per cast. You carry a bullet capacity that depletes as you fire. Basic attacks and Chain Action procs consume 1 bullet each. When you run out, you need to reload.

The bullet drain is most noticeable on Desperado: three casts empty a standard magazine. Gatling builds with Eternal Chain burn through bullets at double the normal rate during Gatling Fever. Carry enough ammunition for your farming session.

Last Stand vs Platinum Altar

These two self-buffs cancel each other. You can only have one active.

  • Platinum Altar: 9% max HP shield for 120 seconds, +5 ATK. You can move freely. Use it in farming, PvP, and any fight where you need to reposition.
  • Last Stand: Immobilizes you but gives up to +100 ATK and +18% ASPD at max level. Use it against stationary bosses, MVP fights, and sieges where you hold a position.

Pick based on the fight, not your build. A Desperado player uses Platinum Altar to teleport in with Fallen Angel, then switches to Last Stand once positioned. A Gatling player uses Last Stand against a boss, then cancels it and uses Platinum Altar when mechanics force movement.

Fallen Angel combo

Fallen Angel is a teleport that lands you at a target location within 9 meters. For 2 seconds after landing, Desperado deals an extra 600% damage (at max level). The rotation is:

  1. Pre-cast Platinum Altar (or Last Stand)
  2. Fallen Angel into the middle of the enemy pack
  3. Desperado immediately — the 600% boost applies
  4. Desperado again if the pack is still up

This is the class’s burst opener. In PvP, Fallen Angel lets you blink onto a backline target, Cracker stun them, then Desperado at point-blank range.

Weapon swapping

You are not locked to one weapon type. The Job Freedom system means free resets, but you can also carry multiple weapons in your inventory and swap between fights. A Tracking build farms with a pistol (Desperado AoE) and switches to a rifle for bosses. The game data confirms different weapon types have the same base ATK at each quality tier — a Q5 Orange Lever Action Rifle (rifle) has the same 151 ATK as a Q5 Tempest Machine Gun (gatling) at Lv55.

Gunslinger item gear guide (Lv55 to endgame)

Quality colors: Q3 = blue, Q4 = purple, Q5 = orange (free-player target), Q6 = royal (endgame). Refine gives +6 Refine ATK and +5 Fixed PDMG per level on every weapon in this class.

Leveling guide

The wild point system

Every character gets 3,600 wild points per day: 600 Monster Extermination (10x EXP and drops) plus 3,000 Healthy Combat (standard rewards). Only kills inside that budget give experience and item drops. Kills beyond it drop headgear materials only. Healthy Combat does not carry over — burn it daily. The server resets at 5 AM.

The 110% rule

Monsters 1 to 5 levels above you give 110% experience. Same-level mobs give 100%. Anything several levels below drops to near zero. Use the in-game monster index sorted by level and hunt in the bracket above yours.

BracketWhat works
1–20Story quests and starter zone
20–40Field zones, party farming, pick your weapon type
40–55Dungeons, daily instances, upgrade to Lv55 weapon
55–70Lv55 weapon carries you. Farm the Shadow Hunt set at 75
70+Weekly content, MVP parties, event quests

Gunslinger-specific leveling

  • Pick Desperado first. Even if you plan to play a different build later, Desperado clears groups of 10 mobs. Leveling with single-target skills takes longer. You get free resets — start with Desperado, switch builds at higher levels.
  • Chain Action early. At level 10 it gives 55% double-attack on pistols. That is a 55% damage multiplier for free.
  • Use auto-battle to burn wild points. It takes over an hour to spend 3,600 points manually. Position yourself in a dense mob zone, activate auto-battle, and let Desperado cycle.
  • Gunslinger’s range is a safety net. Unlike melee classes, you can farm zones above your level without trading hits. Kite with Tracking or auto-attacks from max range.
  • Rebel at job level 40. Eternal Chain extends Chain Action to all gun types. Gatling Fever and Fallen Angel unlock new builds immediately. Do not delay the job change.

Farming guide

How card farming works

Cards drop from monsters at low rates. Normal monsters have the lowest rates; Elite variants (Swift, Solid, Furious, Elusive) have roughly 10x HP and higher drop rates. MVP and Mini bosses have the best rates but require parties.

Only kills inside your daily wild point budget (3,600 points) can drop cards. Farming beyond the budget gives headgear materials only.

The Gunslinger’s card priority depends on your build:

CardSlotEffectBuild
Archer SkeletonWeaponRanged PDMG +6~10%All builds

DoppelgangerWeaponASPD +10%, CRIT +20, CRIT DMG +15%Gatling

Farming strategy by build

  • Desperado: The best farming build, period. Teleport in with Fallen Angel, cast Desperado twice, the pack is dead. Farm dense zones with mobs packed together. Watch your bullet count.
  • Gatling Gunner: Rapid auto-attacks with Gatling Fever clear single targets fast. Less efficient on packs than Desperado. Use it for elite/MVP farming.
  • Rifle (Tracking): Single-target only. Farm with a pistol loadout, switch to rifle for bosses. Do not level with Tracking — it is a PvP/boss skill.
  • Shotgun: Works for farming if you group packs well. Crowd Control Shot slows everything, then Spread Shot and Full Blast finish. Slower than Desperado but safer (you do not teleport into melee range).

Auto-battle skill setup

For Desperado auto-farming:

  1. Platinum Altar (buff)
  2. Fallen Angel (gap close)
  3. Desperado (AoE)
  4. Chain Action (passive, always active)
  5. Remove single-target skills from the auto bar so the AI cycles Desperado on cooldown.

FAQ

What is the best Gunslinger build?

Desperado for farming and AoE. Gatling Gunner for sustained single-target DPS and bosses. Rifle (Tracking) for PvP sniping. Shotgun for AoE control. Most players level with Desperado and switch builds at endgame using the free reset system.

What stats does Gunslinger need?

DEX first — it scales ranged physical attack and hit rate. AGI for attack speed (Gatling build priority). LUK for crit rate and crit damage. VIT for survivability on close-range builds (Desperado, Shotgun).

Is Gunslinger good for farming?

Yes. Desperado clears up to 10 enemies per cast from the middle of the pack. It is one of the fastest farming classes in the game. Gatling Gunner and Rifle builds are slower for farming but better for bosses.

How do I change builds?

The Job Freedom system lets you reset stats and skills for free at any time. Test every weapon type without cost. You can also carry multiple weapons and swap between fights.

When does Rebel unlock?

At Gunslinger job level 40. Talk to the job change NPC to advance. Eternal Chain, Gatling Fever, Fallen Angel, and the other Rebel skills unlock immediately.

Is Night Walker available on SEA?

Not yet. Night Walker (job ID 813) exists in the game database but is not live on the SEA server as of August 2026. Its skills are in the data — Mission Bomber is the confirmed unique skill.

What weapon should I use for Desperado?

Desperado requires a pistol, but the database shows no dedicated pistol above Lv40 under Gunslinger job limits. The Glorious Gatling Gun and its higher-level successors (Tempest, Outlaw, Avengers, Booster) share the same item type and work with Desperado. The name says “Gatling Gun” but the skill gate checks the weapon classification, not the name.

What gear should I farm first?

Get your Lv55 weapon (Lever Action Rifle for Rifle, Tempest Machine Gun for Gatling, Thunder Shotgun for Shotgun) at Q5 Orange as soon as you hit 55. Farm toward the Shadow Hunt set at Lv75. The Gale Robe line fills armor slots in between.

Does Gunslinger need INT?

Not as a primary stat. INT helps with SP management but Gunslinger skills have low SP costs. Put extra points into AGI or LUK instead. SP sustain comes from Magnolia cards and potions.
